NERA Economic Consulting Announces Senior-Level Promotions

New York—NERA Economic Consulting, a leading global provider of economic advice and analysis in business, legal, and regulatory matters, is pleased to announce that Dr. Agustin Ros has been promoted to Senior Vice President, and Timothy McKenna and Dr. Subramaniam (Subbu) Ramanarayanan to Vice President.

Dr. Ros, leader of NERA’s Mexico City office, has extensive expertise in regulatory economics and antitrust/competition policy, and has filed expert reports before regulatory and antitrust agencies worldwide. In regulatory economics, he has submitted expert reports on issues dealing with tariff regulation in energy and telecommunications, cost modelling of wireless and wireline telecommunications networks, wireless and fixed-line termination rates, and performance-based ratemaking, including estimation of total factor productivity for electricity and telecommunications networks, and calculation of damages in wireless billing disputes. In antitrust, Dr. Ros has submitted expert reports on market definition and market power in telecommunications and energy markets; mergers in banking and credit card services, upstream and downstream petroleum products, and the natural gas sector; monopolistic practices in telecommunications; and retailing and collusive practices in telecommunications. Dr. Ros holds a PhD and MS in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana, and a BA in economics from Rutgers University.

Mr. McKenna is a New York City-based member of NERA’s Securities & Finance and Mass Torts Practices. His areas of expertise include asset valuation issues and forecasting, and he has consulted on the valuation of fixed income, equity, employee stock options, principal protected notes, and a variety of other derivative positions. His experience also includes forecasting class action and bankruptcy filings for insurance industry clients. In the Mass Torts Practice, Mr. McKenna has been retained as an expert to estimate the value of future claims in asbestos-related and other mass tort liability cases. Mr. McKenna received his MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business, his MA in economics from the University of Pennsylvania, and his BA in economics from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Ramanarayanan is a member of NERA’s Antitrust and Health Care Practices in New York City. He specializes in the analysis of competitive effects of mergers and acquisitions and evaluations of anticompetitive behavior, as well as analysis of litigation-related issues in health care markets. In the context of his antitrust work, he has analyzed issues relating to market definition and market power, alleged monopolization, exclusive contracting, and for-profit ownership across a variety of settings in health care including hospital services, health insurance, physician services, and benefits management. Dr. Ramanarayanan has written extensively on the nature of competition in health care markets and its impact on health care costs and quality. His academic research has been published in leading economics journals, and has been cited in many mainstream media outlets. Prior to NERA, Dr. Ramanarayanan was a member of the faculty at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he was an award-winning MBA instructor. Dr. Ramanarayanan holds a PhD in managerial economics and strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (Calcutta).
